Nina's weekly sculptures

My main concept of this quick project was to keep it simple, and I liked the idea of having black on black. In a few of Richard's work he has very subtle pieces that are very calming. You can't really figure out what it is yet it gets you thinking. It isn't very literal at all. It is like he works in a way where his arms and work flows naturally without too much thinking. For this piece I have a wire and brown paper towel that moves around the black foam piece because it is the way my hands draw. I like the repetition and the flow of it going in and around the foam.

For this second sculpture, I had the idea of using strings that forms in the regular way my hand motion moves in when I draw, sketch, or write. It is inspired from Richard Tuttle's piece where he lays these pieces of strings down and forms light lines that draws attention to the flow of the form.

For this, I wanted to keep it as minimal as possible, playing with the straw's form & show some sort of depth from it's shadow and play with light, and to also show repetition.

For this sculpture, I was focused on balance & gravity. I have the pennies on it's side on a sticky lint roll sheet as they lose their balance slowly, and I captured the angles they fell at; again focused on their natural flow and how they form due to gravity and their weight.

For this project, I realize that Richard Tuttle plays with wire, so instead of wire I used clip pins to play around with for texture; I piled it up to have a different look and feel as if it's distorted and bent from wires to create an abstract form.

I wanted to play with the shading again and form "H" & "I" that spells out "HI" - sort of like how Richard Tuttle plays with letterforms.

I piled these clips that transforms into either snowflakes or flowers; however the viewer see's it, and I wanted to play with the white space around it and texture. I thought it was a unique way to transform clips into something simple and but still a sculpture form.

For this sculpture, I wanted to play with strings, forming it in that natural way I scribble; it is a small portion that portrays pattern and textile. I really enjoy repetition and simplicity while doing my design work.

For this Project, I wanted to do it on the "cutie", tangerine because it is my favorite fruit. I thought playing wight he textures and manipulating this object/fruit would be fun. During the process, I had a really great time morphing the wax and latex materials since I haven't had 3D since almost 2 years ago. I was aiming for the exact same look and feel, for a realistic look.

I recall this from class - Like how blunt it is in its simple form and dimension.
